Pete’s Bills is a short list of important bills that have been read and should be testified on in his opinion. If you are one of those who is happy to sit back on the couch and only complain after a law is in effect, this is probably not enjoyable reading for you.
Peter spends a lot of his time investigating and responding to bills that the Legislature is bringing up, discussing, and voting on before they become law. If you know Peter you already know this. It involves many, many hours of reading. There are only so many bills that you can read in a day and none of us have a whole day to spend on them. We can choose which are the most important to us and act on them.
This is set up to assist others in learning how to save time as they learn about this and begin to participate too. It is a “many hands” thing. People who want to get up off of the couch and do something. Hopefully, more citizens will stand up and take an active role in monitoring what politicians are doing over there in Olympia. By communicating with the lawmakers, we could introduce some common sense and prevent ridiculous laws from being passed in the first place.!--more-->

2023.01.17
# & Name, Committee, Vote, Pete’s Opinion
HB 2119 Medical Debt Garnishment,
Civil Rights & Judiciary, Con
HB2119 Let everyone get out of paying medical bills. This is a, “Just Don’t Pay” bill.
HB 2231 Incentivizing… attract & retain law enforcement-sales tax, Local Government Committee, Con
HB2231 allows the city-state or county to raise sales tax by 0.10% for law enforcement but doesn’t “change anything” in law enforcement. Nothing to reduce crime, only half of the tax $ goes to the police to add officers and wages. This bill talks about what MAY be done but is just a bunch of hype.
HB 2173 SB 6047 Natural gas utilities/OPMA, State Government & Tribal Relations, Con,
HB2173 & SB6047 remove any transparency for sharing about how the cost of utilities are determined, in that, gas has a carbon tax, and electricity from gas generators has a carbon tax. You aren’t able to be told about it or vote on it.
