Lavender Farm Portrait 2 final steps. With the resist taken away, I begin on the more careful rendering of details everywhere.
I just love having all these pristine light areas opened up like this. The little girl’s eyes, face, bouquet and clothing will now have the color and shadows added.
Some more shadows, colors and details are added and the will be bringing the floral background alive. The little girls skin tones are darkened and details applied to her expression, her hat and bouquet. One step after the other and the portrait will be done.
Here it is finished. I love her smile and the little dots of light on her cheek from the sun shining thru the little holes in her hat. This painting was given to the family at Camden Creek Lavender Farm.

Here is a view of the entire layout of the fields behind the little girl with a beginning yellow base wash applied. As you look over the lavender rows going down the hill you see that there is a row of trees framing the edge of the field in the distance.
Continually darker washes are applied in greens between the purple and pink rows of lavender and I see the perspective of the fields showing as the little girl comes closer to me in the foreground because of it. This change is giving us a great separation between her and the fields.
